Faculty Sweaters' Design Competition

The IC Faculty Sweater Design Competition is back! This year, we give you the opportunity to propose a design, which may be worn by all IC students.

Here are the rules for entering the competition:

– You must submit one designs: for the front, or for the back, or two designs : one for the front (a small one) and for the back (a large one)

– You must submit your designs in separate .svg files (NO PNG OR JPEG OR PDF).

– Use mainly black and white. The aim is to be able to change the color of your design to match the sweatshirt colors.

– You must only submit .svg files (vector: saving a raster image as .svg does not work).

– The sweaters will be embroidered, so keep that in mind when designing! Keep elements over 1.5mm thick. Paths only: turn your fonts, contours and effects into paths. Do not use gradients!

Did we mention that you only need to submit .svg files?

All kidding aside, why do we insist on vector graphics? Simply because that's the format the sweater manufacturers require. How can you do it? We encourage you to use Inkscape: https://inkscape.org/. It's a free, open and comprehensive program that lets you make vector drawings. You can also convert png, jpeg or other images into vector format (remember .svg?): https://inkscape.org/doc/tutorials/tracing/tutorial-tracing.html.

You have until October 10th, 23:59, to submit your design. After this date, we'll open the voting: each IC student will be able to choose the winner. The winner will receive his or her sweater free of charge!

You can enter as a group. However, this does not double the prizes (i.e. you will only receive one free sweatshirt for the whole group).

To submit your designs, just send an e-mail to logistique.clic@epfl.ch with your .svg files (😠) in a .zip, and feel free to give us your artist account if you'd like us to promote them.

To your mouses and pencils, we can't wait to see your creations!

Love from CLIC ❤️💙
