About

What is CLIC ?

CLIC came into being in 2011, when the IC faculty was facing difficulties it couldn't solve on its own. With the help of the delegates, who had to go beyond their role, the CDIC was born. It soon became the CLIC (because it's classier). The association was mainly made of delegates, and worked in close collaboration with the coaching. The faculty, delighted with this collaboration, provided us with an office close to the administration for rapid communication. This was INN132, where we are still based.

As the problems were solved, it was time to think about the fun. A faculty dinner, a field trip, a bar at Balélec (BarIC), and other fun stuff were on the agenda. Then the years passed, and the events multiplied : December mulled wine, free breakfasts, faculty clothing sales, video game evenings and much more.

Then, like LudIC or LauzHack, events became commissions, then became big enough to stand on their own two feet, and were transformed into fully-fledged associations.

Today, CLIC has grown, but has not lost sight of its original mission: to bring the faculty to life with free or low-cost events, and to ensure that the monotony of classes and exams is regularly broken. In recent years, we have also tried to offer more serious content such as conferences, talks and contacts with industry, as these are also needs of IC faculty students.

positions

Presidency

The role of the co-presidents is to coordinate the association internally and represent it externally. They ensure cohesion within their committee and with the CLIC commissions, and that the association is moving in the right direction, according to the goals set and the vision of the association.

Without going into too much detail, this involves ensuring compliance with the association's official documents, chairing committee meetings and general assemblies, ensuring a good distribution of the tasks, and supporting committee members where necessary.

These are very rewarding, all-round jobs that require a constant global vision!

Administration

Administration is one of the pillars of any association. We take care of issuing and paying invoices, reimbursing committees who make purchases for CLIC, drawing up a budget, keeping the association's accounts up to date, etc. We also take care of all insurance matters. We also take care of all insurance matters. Every year, we have to update the insurance policy for our events. As for the budget, our job is to draw up a realistic annual budget for the association. It's voted on each year at the Autumn General Meeting, and is often revised for the second half of the year. Being in the administration department requires constant work. Indeed, it's quite difficult for us to take weeks off without keeping an eye on the accounts, without having to issue invoices to our sponsors or others, without having to pay bills for the CLIC or its commissions, without having to reimburse someone who has made an expenditure for the CLIC or one of our commissions, and so on.

Animation

The event is on fire.

We put a smile on ICs' faces first thing in the morning with free breakfasts, hot croissants, coffee and a little contagious CLIC motivation. We also cheer them up after long days at work with mulled wine in winter, sangria in spring and aperitifs of all kinds throughout the year.

CLIC events are also an opportunity to meet other ICs. Not least at the traditional Faculty Dinner, which brings together over 350 students and professors from the IC faculty for a good meal, quality beverages and, of course, entertainment. Every year, CLIC and Coaching IC collaborate to organize CLICoaching, an event designed to integrate first-year students into the rest of the Faculty and show them that CLIC takes over from Coaching IC for the rest of their course. We also organize the Apéro Master in autumn to enable newcomers and established students to meet over good local beers, quality sangria (yes, it's Don Simon) and festive entertainment such as karaoke or JustDance.

Despite our unconditional love for the BC building and the INM hall, the CLIC events team travels from time to time to accompany you to other corners of the campus. For example, we run the friendly BarIC during the Balélec Festival and the gourmet BurgerIC stand during VivaPoly.

Communication

What is the Communications Department?

Our role

Our role in the Communications Department is to inform students about everything CLIC has to offer 😁 our events, faculty sweater sales, competitions, committee announcements and sponsor announcements... We also relay information from other student associations on campus that might be of interest to our IC students. And last but not least, if you have any questions or need anything, it's usually the people in charge of communications that you contact: so our aim is to help you as best we can!

How do we communicate?

To keep in touch with IC students, we keep several social networks up to date! CLIC now has 6 networks: an Instagram account, a Telegram channel, a Twitter account, a LinkedIn account, an EPFL Campus channel and, of course, the great website you're reading this on 😉 We also send you emails for the biggest announcements.

What should we do?

To communicate about something, you need to start by gathering the necessary information and thinking about how you're going to communicate it. Then you have to write the texts that will go on the different platforms (they all have different constraints in terms of size, clickable links, etc.). Then you have to prepare the designs (this can be very time-consuming, as there are different formats). If you like design, it's better, but you can always learn and have fun!

The fine team

The Comm' department is one of CLIC's departments that operates with 2 people! There are 2 people in charge (because it's a lot of work, at least that's what they say), who divide up the tasks so as to be there on all fronts! Depending on the moment, the Comm' team can also be made up of great team members who are always there to get things done. They can help write texts, prepare designs for posts or stories, or just get down to work on a project that interests them. Above all, we're in the associative business to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere!

External Relations

In the sponsorship department, our aim is to contact companies who are interested in our project, and who might be of interest to IC students, in order to find partnerships. These partnerships can take different forms: logistical, material or financial.

At the beginning of the year, we work on our sponsorship file, which summarizes everything we can offer companies in terms of visibility and communication to reach IC students. Then, and this is the most interesting part, we begin negotiations with the companies to find the most suitable partnership for them, for us and for the students of the faculty.

The various services we offer our partners can be the presence of their logo on our posters, a presentation of the company at an event, publications on our social networks or the possibility of offering goodies to students. We also have a Telegram channel "CLIC Bons Plan" where we publish offers and tips. Don't hesitate to follow the channel !

Being part of the sponsorship team allows you to discover the business world, and learn how to make contact, negotiate, sell services and manage contracts with major companies. It also learning how to write and send emails, and not forgetting to answer to emails that we receive :)

IT

The IT department looks after the association's IT infrastructure. It's a department in constant motion, with no shortage of ideas and projects! Its day-to-day work ranges from adding new tools and applications to the CLIC committee's artillery (or even the IC student's), to developing our magnificent website on which you are reading these lines.

System administrator

Often abbreviated to sysadmin, the system administrator's job is to set up, update and, above all, maintain IT services. In the case of CLIC, we have a small server hosted at Infomaniak on which our year-round services reside, whether they be internal tools (Mattermost, Nextcloud, etc.) or external (website) to the committee. Generally speaking, the management of this server is a very basic set of tasks, and above all an educational one for anyone interested in IT.

Web development

The association's website contains information on CLIC, its commissions, committees and team members. In the near future, we'd like to extend these functionalities to services for IC students, such as an equipment loan system, a registration system, a shared calendar for IC associations and commissions, etc. The possibilities are infinite...

Logistics

The logistics department is responsible for all material aspects of the CLIC. This role acts as a link between the Events, Sponsorship, Presidency and Administration departments. Internal logistics

One area where the department can boost the Committee's productivity is in internal logistics. This includes the management of equipment in the cellar (the underground room where the Faculty kindly allows LINC to store its equipment) and the office (which you'll be familiar with: INN 132). It's a real job that requires a vision of all LINC's activities and a bit of inventiveness to come up with the best way to make it all work! Event logistics

The heart of CLIC is organizing events! Our role in all this is to do everything we can so that the event management team can concentrate on creating and managing the event: we take care of making sure that everything exists, from races to equipment loans. Of course, we're never alone: the committee and the events team are there to support us in this colossal task. The logistics team is that group of warriors who, come rain, shine or snow, will be willing and efficient to do 100% of the work and allow the others to concentrate totally on their job of creating the best possible events. The logistics team

One of the best experiences in this division is team management. As I said earlier, the cluster shines thanks to the influence of its team. A logistics team member is willing, creative and rigorous. That's how a relationship of trust is built up, and how team members are entrusted with projects! A few examples of projects carried out entirely by team members: the tactical cupboard, IC mugs, [can it be your project?] Finally, it's thanks to this team that the division can be entrusted with major projects such as the A to Z creation of the Faculty sweaters you know (and yes, that's us!).
